Raw Dawg

There is SO much buzz around the pet food industry these days.

There are recalls, warnings and more.

With so much information floating around it’s hard to know what’s what.

Here’s the thing, it’s really simple once you look at a dog for what they are.

They are carnivores. Their ancestors ate animals they hunted.

They were not designed to eat a processed brown kibble you plop in their bowl every day. The pet food industry created that to utilize the waste from the animal agricultural industry, but we’ll save that for another discussion. 🤬

The truth is I’ve seen the damage first hand. I spent nearly 15 years in the veterinary industry, working as a tech, caring for the animals. I’ve seen the sick, dying dogs and cats that were fed what their owners thought was best.

Not to mention the amount of toxins and overloaded vaccines we pump into our animals, it’s no wonder why there are so many ill pets.

It’s overwhelming and extremely frustrating. In vet tech school our nutrition book was written by Purina, the pet food company…veterinarians learn about nutrition by the pet food industry itself. It’s bias, it’s wrong.

But the good thing is there’s hope, there’s an army of people fighting the good fight for the animals. Getting the information out there and exposing the truth. Just watch the documentary Pet Fooled and get your mind blown.

There are veterinarians fighting against the pet food industry as well fighting for fair vaccination laws. The holistic veterinarians who teach their clients about the importance of a species appropriate diet and limiting toxic load.

I’m here to help anyone who is interested in learning more about feeding a species appropriate raw diet. You don’t have to do this alone, reach out! Take the leap for the health of your dog!

Miss Piggy

Miss Piggy has been eating a species appropriate raw diet for 5 years.

She has never been healthier! She fit, active, her fur is super soft. She has energy and is always happy.

But it wasn’t always like this. She was diagnosed with Addison’s disease when she was only 2 years old. She’s almost 8 now.

At that time I had fed her the typical “high quality” dry kibble diet. I had her vaccinated and she had her preventives. She was even spayed at 6 months…

Then she was suddenly sick. We were out of town and luckily her caretaker rushed her to the ER vet. She nearly died.

I vowed to do better for her, I met an amazing holistic veterinarian who showed me the light. I changed her diet, titer tested instead of over vaccinated and switched to natural healthcare.

She slowly started to improve, her energy returned, she started losing weight. She wasn’t as stressed and anxious. It wasn’t overnight, it’s a process and she still takes steroids to keep her body in check.

She hikes with me on every hike x train session and helps with dogs that need some individual attention. She is always ready to adventure wherever I go.

Changing her diet and lifestyle has literally saved her life. I don’t know what I’d do with out Miss Piggy, she’s the best.

I know there’s a lot of dogs that are in desperate need of change. Not only their diet but their entire lifestyle. We all want a happy, healthy dog to spend our lives with.

I’m here to help if you’re ready to commit to change.

The Natural Dog

There’s so much buzz around natural health these days. So much information swirling around the internet.

It’s hard to decipher it all and know what information to trust.

You’ve made the change in your own lifestyle but you don’t have the slightest idea of where to start with your dog.

Your veterinarian isn’t supportive, they still recommend kibble…🤬

Where can you get quality holistic advice on health, diet and lifestyle? It’s overwhelming!

Luckily I’m here to help! I’ve done all the hard work, after all I was a veterinary nurse for nearly 15 years before my dog training days. The last 4 of which focused on holistic health.

Hey there adventurous dog parents, I feel you. 💯

Your dog needs training, like NOW. The barking, the lunging, the lack of chill. You cannot enjoy life with your crazy dog.

You just want that dog you can take on hikes, explore new cities and relax at outdoor patios while you enjoy a meal. Instead you’re stuck at home with your dog. It’s eating away at your adventurous soul! 😩

Shoot me a message and we can chat about how you can take your dog from hot mess to a chill dog you can vibe with. 😎

You never stop learning

Dog training is over-rated. Anybody can teach a dog to sit, lie down and stay.

It’s not challenging and it doesn’t take much time or energy on the owners part.

They are useful skills and fun to show off to your friends and family.

However those skills will only get you and your dog so far.

The real challenge is to apply those skills in real life scenarios. For example, would your dog sit and stay if it saw a squirrel running across the street?

Would they remain calm and not pull on the leash if they saw an excited dog approaching you?

Could you take your dog to a dog-friendly restaurant or brewery without them acting a fool?

The challenge most people face is changing their dogs behavior and how to utilize those skills in real life.

They lack the time and energy to work with their dogs because, well, they work, they have responsibilities and their lives to attend to.

And really, they don’t know what they don’t know. This doesn’t make them bad owners, just extremely busy owners!

But there is hope! You can have a dog that follows commands even in the most distracting situations. That well-behaved dog CAN be your dog!

You just have to reach out for help. We can guide you and your dog on a journey to success.

Patience

A quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson always reminds me to be patient when working with the dogs in my pack.

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”

We all live crazy busy lives. We live in the age of information and convenience and we expect everything NOW!

We expect results yesterday but rarely put in the hard work. Why would we when the answer is at our finger tips?

We even place the same expectation of NOW when it comes to teaching our dogs.

We expect our dogs to just get it. We expect them to obey and understand our language NOW.

But here’s the thing, your dog is more connected to the natural world than you.

They haven’t picked up a smart phone and they don’t Google all the answers.

They run at the pace of nature.

Maybe if you had more patience, put in the real work and learned to communicate with your dog things would be different.

So slow down, adopt the pace of nature and have patience with the process.

You will both learn and grow from the experience.

Reconnect with the wild

The world is a beautiful, wild place.
.
We spend far too much of our time in the concrete jungle, attached to technology.
.
We fail to appreciate the true beauty of nature.
.
We are not the only ones who miss out on the wonders of the world. Our beloved dogs miss out as well.
.
Our busy lives have disconnected us from our roots, from our dogs roots.
.
But we can reconnect, nature is always there for us.
.
The benefits of exploring the natural world are profound.
.
The fresh air, the trees, the dirt, the animals. The sights and sounds of our foundation. We cannot forget where we come from.
.
Nature helps to clear the mind, to reset our soul.
.
These effects are heightened when we explore with our dogs.
.
They are our constant companion yet we often fail to provide them with the opportunity to truly explore nature.
.
Don’t let the hustle and bustle of everyday life rob you of the opportunity to reconnect.
.
Get out there and explore the world with your dog.
.
You’ll find yourself again, I promise.
