Patience

A quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson always reminds me to be patient when working with the dogs in my pack.

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”

We all live crazy busy lives. We live in the age of information and convenience and we expect everything NOW!

We expect results yesterday but rarely put in the hard work. Why would we when the answer is at our finger tips?

We even place the same expectation of NOW when it comes to teaching our dogs.

We expect our dogs to just get it. We expect them to obey and understand our language NOW.

But here’s the thing, your dog is more connected to the natural world than you.

They haven’t picked up a smart phone and they don’t Google all the answers.

They run at the pace of nature.

Maybe if you had more patience, put in the real work and learned to communicate with your dog things would be different.

So slow down, adopt the pace of nature and have patience with the process.

You will both learn and grow from the experience.
